Dirksen Nature Park is a stunning and thoughtfully designed outdoor space. The paved paths and nature trails wind through trees, open meadows, and peaceful wooded areas, making it a great place to take in the scenery and enjoy a quiet walk. The playground is unique and very creative, with carved wood features and natural elements that make it feel magical for children and families. There are clean restrooms, picnic areas, sports fields, and even outdoor fitness equipment — truly something here for everyone. The park is well-maintained, inviting, and a beautiful asset to the Tigard community.
I did choose four stars instead of five due to one personal experience. During my visit, there were two large dogs off-leash despite clear signage stating that this is a leash-required park. I love dogs and respect responsible dog ownership, but my own dog was once attacked and nearly killed by an off-leash dog, which resulted in expensive emergency care and a long recovery. Because of that history, seeing off-leash dogs in a leashed park understandably brings anxiety rather than relaxation.
This is a truly wonderful park, and I highly recommend visiting — especially if you enjoy nature, quiet pathways, and open space. I simply hope all visitors follow the posted rules so everyone, including those with dogs, can enjoy the park safely and peacefully."
