Reviews Summary

"Loved the pioneer village!
On our family road trip, we decided to stop at Fowler Park for a picnic. Not being from the area, we had no idea that there was an old pioneer village on the property with some original buildings from the area and some replicated. What a treat!
There were so many fun cabins within the village! Gristmill, Fur Cabin, Carpenter Shop, Church, 1840’s School, Blacksmith Shop, Trading Post and lots of homes between! None of them were open when we were there, but we were able to peer through the windows and visualize what life was like during those times.
The Grist Mill was very cool with a working water wheel. If you looked inside, you could see the mechanisms at work. The church had the pews lined up for Sunday mass wow the 1840s School house had their dunce caps perched on the stools ready for anybody who misbehaved.
I just love the rustic design of this village. It makes for some amazing photography shots! Beautiful lake!
A family could definitely survive in this village back in the day. Everything was right here around you. It was a fun day getting a chance to step back in time.
Would highly recommend!

"I had the opportunity to take my adult students (18-22 year olds) with special needs to see a glimpse of Pioneer Days. For many, born in the 2003-2006 range, trying to conceptualize anything so primitive as the 1800s was unimaginable. One of my students even as me, "What was it like back then?" in a way that indicated he thought I had FIRSTHAND knowledge!! I know I'm old now, but come on! Did he really wonder if I was at, near, or OVER 200 years old? Wow! (...and pretty funny, really)!
The participants in this Pioneer event were setting up tents, cleaning out cobwebs, making repairs, stacking firewood, and preparing for the two-day event starting the next morning. Of course, they were not yet dressed in attire to match the era, but it was a fun experience for my students all the same."
