What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Apalachee Regional Park for its well-maintained 5k trail and its status as a premier venue for cross-country events. The park is noted for its aesthetic appeal and its ability to host large-scale competitions. However, some reviews mention issues with staff rudeness during events and the dusty conditions of certain access roads.
"The staff are incredibly rude and unreasonable. Some security guard (?) Kicked the head milesplit photographer off the course, causing parents of the kids running to be infuriated. The photographer showed the Visit Tally worker his credentials to be on the track, and after acknowledging the fact that he did, in fact, have credentials, the worker still kicked him out. She was clearly someone who was given temporary power and didn't know how to handle it. I unfortunately did not get her name. All I know is that she was driving a golf cart and that she was african american."
Noah Von Dauber
"We were fortunate enough to have been given a guided tour of this amazing facility. The staff was very informative and knowledgeable of the facility. The facility is very well maintained and astheticly pleasing. Every aspect of the facility was well thought out and designed to meet the needs of the users."

Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
When major events are scheduled, families can experience the excitement of competitions like cross-country races or the Tallahassee Bike Fest. These events can be a fun way to introduce children to sports or local culture. However, be mindful that these times can be crowded, so keeping a close eye on children is essential. Consider bringing a stroller or carrier for very young children, as some areas might be uneven.
🏃♀️ Runners and Athletes
The park's 5k walking trail also provides an excellent option for endurance training or recovery runs. The well-maintained path is suitable for various paces. Be sure to check the event calendar to avoid major race days if you prefer uninterrupted training, or embrace the energy if you're looking to race or spectate. Hydration is key, so carry water, especially during longer runs.
🐶 Dog Owners
Always ensure your dog is on a leash and that you clean up after them. The park's natural terrain means that conditions can vary; be prepared for potential mud or dust, especially after rain. While the park is beautiful, the presence of large events can make it overwhelming for sensitive pets, so strategic timing is key for a stress-free outing.

Trail Experiences and Conditions
However, visitors should be aware of potential trail conditions. One TikTok video highlighted extreme mud and water conditions during a race, with water reaching 'up to ankles'. This indicates that the trails can be susceptible to weather, becoming challenging after rain. It's advisable to check recent conditions or be prepared with appropriate footwear, such as waterproof shoes or boots, especially if visiting after periods of significant rainfall.
For those seeking a less crowded experience, particularly with anxious pets, seeking out times outside of major events is recommended. While the park is beautiful, its popularity for events means that general trail use can be impacted by large gatherings. Planning visits during weekdays or off-peak hours can offer a more serene experience.
