What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Barn Island for its beautiful, easy hikes through diverse landscapes, from peaceful marshes teeming with dragonflies to shaded woods. The opportunity to see wildlife and discover historical elements like an old cemetery adds to its charm. It's a tranquil spot, often with few other people around, making it ideal for nature lovers.
"Beautiful easy hike. The loop we did was 2.9 miles. It was very pretty near the water, and we saw a lot of dragonflies day we went. When going through the woods, the trees provided nice shade on a hot day. Don't forget bug spray very buggy in the woods."
Nicole Croteau
"Beautiful hike through the marsh. We saw a lot of wildlife and pretty wildflowers during our mid-June visit. We saw hardly any other people during our hike. Recommend doing the offshoot trail to the cemetery dating from the 1600's. We continued on the red blaze trail which is wooded and shaded (unlike the marsh). The hike through the woods was nice but not as exciting as the marsh area, which is beautiful. There is also a path from the west side if the parking lot to a pretty, small beach, that was not in alltrails or our guidebook. There are interpretive signs about marsh ecosystems. Great place for kids."
