What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mount Nittany is celebrated for its breathtaking summit views and the rewarding hiking experience, especially during the vibrant fall season. While many praise the natural beauty and the sense of accomplishment, some reviews mention challenging trail conditions and limited amenities. The Mount Nittany Medical Center, also associated with the name, receives mixed reviews, with praise for dedicated nursing staff but critiques regarding wait times and hospital protocols.
"You can pick your surgeon, but have no control over the rest of the surgical center staff. I had THE BEST RNs taking care of me in pre-op. RNs Janice, Andrea, and Kierstin were wonderful. Friendly, efficient, and caring, I was pleased they were on the team. Kierstin is A++ at starting IVs. (Of all surgeries, blood draws and blood donations, this stick was the fastest with no pain and no bruising afterward). She's a pro! THANK YOU!"
Barbra M
"I've been coming to this hospital for 40 years as needed. Kidney pain, intestinal pain, and nausea for 5 days. Apparently new protocol to speed up waiting times is to put some of us in a sperate waiting room instead of being in a bed. I was given medicine that makes me sleepy with an IV hanging in waiting room. I've never felt so uncomfortable and uncared for in my life. I understand it's closer for X-ray images but even after done, I'm still in waiting room. I just want a bed to get comfortable. Go to Penn Highland hospital instead. Contemplating just walking out of here with IV bag and going to the other hospital...Most staff are great. Whoever makes these protocols... you're choosing profit over compassion is showing."

"For being in the hospital the staff and nurses made my experience as good as possible. All the nurses and care personnel on the third floor were so kind and caring. A special call out to Holly and Olivia who took such good care of me and got me on my feet again."

The trails are generally well-marked, but it's always wise to carry a map or use a navigation app, especially if you plan to explore less common paths. Remember to wear appropriate footwear, as the trails can be uneven and slippery, particularly after rain or during winter months.
Beyond the main loops, there are other connecting trails and access points. The surgical center staff, including RNs Janice, Andrea, and Kierstin, also received commendations for their friendly and professional demeanor, with Kierstin noted for her skill in starting IVs.
However, some reviews point to issues with hospital protocols, long wait times, and communication breakdowns, particularly in the ER.
