What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Galloway Creek District Lone Pine offers convenient, fully furnished apartments with included utilities, praised by many for its quiet atmosphere and responsive maintenance. However, some residents have reported significant issues with management accessibility, rent prorating, and unresolved maintenance problems like black mold, leading to a mixed overall experience.
"I have lived at the Galloway Creek apartments since November of 2019. I swear I must be a resident longer than anyone… I love it here. The staff (especially April, property manager) has always been very accommodating and quick to address any of my concerns. There haven’t been many either.
I enjoy the simplicity of my apartment. It’s completely furnished right down to the bath towels. Utilities furnished, including a big screen TV. The cost of all this is right up there with living in a house and having to pay utilities.
There is an elevator for convenience, not very complexes have that at all.
The maintenance team does an awesome job of keeping the walkways and parking lot cleaned in the winter time.
Overall I am very content with this complex…
no I’m not being paid to say any of this.
This is truly a great place to live in Springfield.

"April Strub was the first person I met here and with her help I rented here from Michigan without ever being inside of the unit. (There wasn’t an empty when I first visited). In the past 3 months I have enjoyed living here. I feel safe, it’s quiet and the staff I have been involved with are great. April has helped me with a variety of things from finding insurance to checking on my cat and apartment when my anxiety got the best of me and I questioned locking up and was out of town. (Ya know the “did I leave the stove on” anxiety). For someone who knows 2 people in the entire state living in a community like this is so important to me, so THANK YOU!"

"I'm a night shift travel nurse. I stayed here 3 months. First issue was the prorating of rent. My prorated rent was $325.83. My rent was $1175/mo. $1175 divided by 30 days is $39.17/day which should have made the proration $274.19 for 7 days. The manager agreed but would have to ask someone else about the difference. The walls had several scuffs which she noted on her form. The couch had nail polish on it, the tables scratched, & the thin mattress had a urine stain. I was told to dispose of items the last tenant left. A fan pull was missing requiring a work order. This was not an issue for me so I asked her to avoid it. She put in the work order anyway but never got back to me about the rent. She was gone the next week. The office hours were changed from Mon-Fri 8-4 to Mon-Thurs 9-1. A new office manager woke me midday a month later. She was there to do a move-out inspection. I had only been there a month & wouldn’t be moving out for 2 months. She was aware but wanted to stay ahead of things. I asked her to comeback another time. She came back the next week & so did the repair person to fix the fan pull. On her “move-out inspection” she noted the scuffed paint. In total my sleep was interrupted 5 times in 3 months. I received notifications warning me about smoking in the apartment & misplacement of disposed trashed. I’ve never smoked anything in my life & my trash always went inside the dumpster despite the numerous amounts of vultures. I was overcharged, the furniture was less than subpar, my sleep was disrupted multiple times, I was counseled on actions that were not my own, I had to dispose of someone else’s belongings, I tolerated being stalked by vultures, & I did without utilities that were included in my rent. The second manager was replaced with a third manager. When I moved out that manager discovered the already documented scuffs on the walls & kept my deposit. It doesn’t stop there. They reached out to me with a fine because the utilities were prematurely turned off. Funny thing is they paid the utilities and they were the ones that turned them off. They were never in my name. If you rent here have a lawyer on speed dial."

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
However, families should pay close attention to the reported inconsistencies in management and maintenance. Ensuring that any concerns regarding the apartment's condition or safety are addressed promptly and thoroughly before signing a lease is crucial. It's also wise to inquire about any specific family-friendly amenities or policies that might be in place.
💼 Travel Nurses & Short-Term Renters
However, as one travel nurse's experience highlights, it's vital to be extremely diligent regarding lease terms, rent calculations, and the condition of the apartment upon move-in. Thorough documentation and clear communication with management are paramount to avoid potential disputes, especially concerning deposits and utility charges.
💰 Budget-Conscious Renters
While the all-inclusive nature is beneficial, it's important to compare the total cost against market rates for unfurnished apartments plus utilities. Carefully review the lease agreement to understand what is truly covered and be aware of potential extra charges or fees that might arise, as reported by some residents.

Understanding the Resident Experience
However, the resident experience can be varied, particularly concerning management and maintenance. While some tenants have had overwhelmingly positive interactions, praising specific staff members like April for their attentiveness and problem-solving skills, others have encountered significant challenges. These include issues with rent prorating, delayed or unresolved maintenance requests (such as black mold), and communication breakdowns with the office staff. It's crucial for prospective residents to be aware of these differing accounts and to thoroughly vet the property's management practices.
Despite potential management inconsistencies, many residents find the community itself to be quiet and peaceful. The buildings are noted for their sound insulation, minimizing noise from external traffic and nearby businesses. For those who prioritize a tranquil living environment and are willing to build positive relationships with neighbors and management, Galloway Creek District Lone Pine can be a very satisfying place to call home.
Navigating Management and Maintenance
It's essential for potential renters to understand that the quality of service can vary. Some residents have reported that office hours have been reduced, making it harder to reach management. Furthermore, issues like maintenance requests being put in without full tenant consent or follow-up, and deposits being withheld for documented pre-existing conditions, have been cited. This suggests a need for meticulous record-keeping and clear communication from both tenants and management.
For those considering a lease, it is highly recommended to document every interaction, take photos of any issues upon move-in, and ensure all agreements are clearly understood and in writing. Building a good rapport with the management team, as suggested by satisfied residents, might also contribute to a smoother living experience.
