"It was raining here today (Sept 30, 2024). This place is also in a flood watch right now with a lot of other places because of Hurricane Helene aftermath. It looks like this place has its potential. I'll have to come back in the future hopefully and have a dryer experience."

"This place is so awesome. It is my favorite park we visited in NC. It is historic, and beautiful. The paved path walks you far along the river, under a bridge, and though the woods. People fish along the river, ride bikes on the path, and there is cazebos along the walk, as well as unique old building's like in my pictures. There is a huge old wooden outdoor stage we played around on, I believe it's for the old theater next door. I thought it was an abandoned building, but it is still a running theater with pictures of actors in the windows. We walked to it's balcony to enjoy the view of the river. Such a peaceful place, one of the most memorable walks we've taken. We didn't go all the way down the path, but in the areas we did walk there was mural paintings on the wall under the bridge with historic places in town painted on them. litter is at a minimum. I adored this place, it's next to the highway, but you forget that when your walking next to the river and amongst the trees. The picture where my bf is standing on a big rock, is actually a piece of an old bridge that used to be there in the early 1900 or late 1800 I believe. There is a sign on it explaining it, it was pretty awesome to see it still there, it explains the story of the old folks that used to use it and what for. If your looking for a peaceful romantic walk, this is surely the place!!!"
