What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Hoodoo Ski Area is praised for its friendly staff, family-friendly atmosphere, and affordability, making it a local favorite. Visitors enjoy the night skiing and tubing park, though some wish for longer runs. The lodge and dining options are generally well-received, with the rental process being efficient.
"I love Hoodoo ski resort. I’ve been going for years and I’ll continue doing so. The staff are so incredibly kind, knowledgeable and friendly.
The runs are so fun and well made. There are also so many different options and side runs to take along the way. I also love that so many of the runs are great for challenging your skills but not too challenging for fun. The blacks are really a blast and not as death inspiring as I expected when I took them for the first time.
They have a park for practicing tricks and different skills, but I haven’t been to it so I can’t say much of it. It looks pretty alright at the least. The only thing that I struggle with in regard to the runs is that most of them aren’t as long as I would hope for. The longest run is a green from the peak and while it’s very nice, fun and provides an incredible view, it’s more of an easy chill ride, which is fun as well I just wish more runs were nearly as long. One of my favorite aspects here is the night rides. With plenty of lighting and late closing time, the night rides are such a fun experience and give a different riding adventure than during the day.
The atmosphere in the lodge is great and family friendly and has everything you’ll need for your day long visit. I also love the historical photos and equipment strategically placed around the lodge. It gives a sense of history, familiarity and comfort.
The dining area is my favorite of all other resorts so far. It is cozy and yet large enough for so many people all at once. The cafeteria is much better and has more variety of food and drinks than other places I’ve been to. The food is also pretty good. I’m always happy with my experience. I love that there is two floors of seating and fantastic views from more than one side. They also provide a bar on the upper floor. I haven’t tried the bar out yet, but if it’s anything like the rest, I’m sure it’s great.
The gift shop is well stocked and has more space and options than other places I’ve been. The staff in there are also so accommodating! I had a gigantic blowout in my pants from a fall that created an almost full leg window to the arctic temperatures and unfortunate visualization of my spandex shorts that definitely at that point, due to rising, looked like my unders.
Needless to say I needed new clothing. The ladies in the shop were so kind and so very helpful, even bringing me options based off of my preferences. Then helping me with other things I was looking for in the shop. Though they didn’t have everything else I was looking for, they made sure I was well taken care of and were so kind to compliment the way my final clothing choice looked on me. That alone, gives them an upper rating in service and making me want to return.
I don’t need rentals anymore as I have my own board and gear, but when I did and for the friends that I bring who need it, the rental process is easy and pretty painless. Sometimes it can be a bit of a wait but that’s when the line is long and the room is packed. It never takes way too long though from my experience and the mountain is worth it.
My only other downside here would be that we can’t pre order tickets as you can at willamette pass. It would be nice to get them in advance and if doing so could take down the price some as well, as Willamette does. It’s not too big a deal but would be a good touch. I do like that we don’t have to scan our passes each time though as some other resorts do. I also very much live thrifty Thursdays. It’s nice to have that price cut every once in a while.
Over all the staff are incredible as is the rest of the hoodoo experience. I would recommend to anyone looking for a fun snowboarding, skiing or ski bike experience."

"I love the vibe at Hoodoo and much more prefer going there than Bach. Hoodoo is for the locals. It's got a more fun family friendly customer first vibe. It's actually affordable, the lifts and runs are fun and challenging and they throw multiple fun events during the season creating a ski community feel. Staff are always friendly and efficient and seem to enjoy working there."

"Amazing Ski Resort with Something for Everyone!
We had an unforgettable experience at this ski resort! The slopes are beautifully maintained, with a great mix of trails for all skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, there’s plenty to enjoy. The lifts were fast and efficient, so we never had to wait long.
The resort itself is stunning, with breathtaking mountain views. The staff was friendly and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed. The rental equipment was top-notch, and the lessons offered were perfect for first-timers in our group.
After a day on the slopes, we loved relaxing at the lodge with delicious food and drinks. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a perfect winter getaway. We’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable trip."
