What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mount Pleasant Cemetery is appreciated for its historical significance, beautiful landscaping, and seasonal displays like spring magnolias and autumn colors. It's a peaceful spot for reflection and walks. However, some recent reviews mention concerns about grounds maintenance and upkeep in certain areas, impacting the overall experience for some visitors.
"This is an area where families come to find relief from their grief and reconnect with past memories. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case.
Randy did a phenomenal job of running and maintaining this cemetery. He was the heart of this company and when he departed the place fell apart. It is clear the new owners have no clue how to manage the facility or properly budget to do basic upkeep. If anyone is drawing a salary it should immediately be removed and reallocated back into the facility.
At this point, families should come together to formulate a class action lawsuit as I know many people have purchased plots that will never have the opportunity to utilize them. The leaders of the City of Sioux Falls need to address this immediately."

"I am very disgusted with Mount pleasant cemetery The lawn hasn't even been taken care of and there's a bunch of weeds around my family's headstones and tall grass and then on my grandma Connie's grave there's no grass on her plot as she passed away two years ago or three very disappointed in this cemetery something needs to be done or I'm going to find a way to report"

"For years my parents looked forward to Mt Pleasant being their final resting spot. It was always so beautifully cared for. My mom was interred there in 2020 and my dad goes to visit her almost daily. Over the last couple years (after Randy retired) it has steadily gone down hill. The groundskeeper has NOT kept up with the care. There are giant piles of tree brush that have been sitting for years now, the grass is either not cut at all or cut too short. Many graves have had no grass planted on them at all. Another family member of ours passed away last February and they are STILL waiting to have the marker placed as there was a tree on their pre purchased lot. It is simply inexcusable to keep a family waiting that long! I seriously encourage the board members to look into the multiple complaints that have been expressed in other reviews. It is sad to see such a place of beauty falling into disrepair."
