However, some note that amenities can be limited, and popular spots can get crowded, especially on weekends.
"Lots of nice roads to travel here and a couple of hiking trails"
Richard Kuhrt
"Beautiful area, in Ocala National Forest. Lots of bears and deer. Some areas are developed, with bars, restaurants, small grocery stores, gas stations, etc. usually some homes for sale for people who want to live in the area.
We spend 5 months here every winter. We enjoy music and dancing, so we go dancing on the weekends to hear live music.
If you like rural areas and wildlife, probably a good spot to live. There are also some mobile home parks, if that is your preference.
Probably the biggest towns in or nearby are Ocala and Palatka.
Our favorite place for music and dancing is Cactus Jacks bar. We also enjoy the VFW, even though we are not members."
Joan Soles
"I only went up the oklawaha bye boat to the dam. Heard it was blocked and impassable. Not the case though, beautiful as always. There are definitely some changes and make sure you trim the motor up around the trees because there's a couple of hidden logs that you can't always see until you're on top of it. Be careful and have fun"
