Reviews Summary

Kemp Mill Urban Park is appreciated for its efficient use of space, offering challenging climbing structures and a tall slide that older kids adore. The tranquil pond and garden areas provide a peaceful escape, attracting birdlife. However, the playground's limited variety for toddlers and occasional pond cleanliness issues are noted drawbacks.

"This park is nice for older kids that like to climb. I would caution that if your kid likes to climb but they’re short this will be difficult for them to navigate. They have a few swings for different age groups but not many. The rubber mat needs to be repaired. If you have young kids, they do have a section for this age group but it’s lacking. There are only a few little interactive things but no slide or climbing structure for younger kids. There is a kids basketball court if your kids like to play basketball. It’s an ok park but not one that I would say is good for getting the wiggles out or one that has variety."

Rosie Manalo

"Parents and children 10 and under really love the park. It is half urban nature retreat and partly a kids' place to have fun with fitness and friends. Moms have room to gather while the kids safely scatter. Others have posted the slide, swing, and obstacle climbing featured photos. Know there are soft materials underfoot."

James Hirsch

"This playground is on the smaller side, but there is good use of space. Lots of climbing areas with a tall slide. There is also a small basketball court. The garden, pond, and short paths make this area feel relaxing. You can park in the adjacent shopping strip."

Playground Fun for All Ages?

Kemp Mill Urban Park's playground is a highlight, particularly for older children who relish the challenge of its climbing structures and the thrill of a tall slide. The design maximizes space, offering an engaging environment for active kids. However, parents of toddlers might find the offerings limited. While there's a dedicated section for younger ones, it lacks the variety and interactive elements found in more comprehensive playgrounds, leading some to describe it as 'lacking' for the under-5 crowd. The soft surfacing underfoot is a plus for safety, though some areas may require maintenance.

For those with kids aged 6-12, this park is often a hit. The playground provides a good outlet for burning energy, and the presence of a small basketball court adds another activity option. It's a place where moms can gather and chat while the children safely play and explore the fitness-oriented equipment. The park's layout encourages a sense of community and shared enjoyment among families.

Nature's Serenity by the Pond

Beyond the playground, Kemp Mill Urban Park offers a peaceful retreat with its charming ponds. These water features are adorned with lilies and cattails, creating a picturesque scene. Visitors often enjoy leisurely strolls along the short paths that meander around the water, listening to the gentle sounds and observing the abundant birdlife. It’s a refreshing contrast to the energetic playground, providing a space for relaxation and quiet contemplation.

While the natural beauty is a significant draw, it's worth noting that the pond's appearance can be affected by algae blooms, particularly during the warmer summer months. Some visitors have expressed a wish for the pond to be kept a bit cleaner. Despite this, the presence of geese and various other birds continues to make it an appealing spot for nature lovers and casual observers alike. The park has undergone recent renovations, enhancing its overall attractiveness and the upkeep of its natural elements.
