What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Sam's Town offers a unique, retro Vegas experience with a standout indoor atrium and generally friendly staff, especially in dining and casino roles. However, many guests note that the hotel is in need of significant refurbishment, with some rooms showing wear and tear, and service can be inconsistent. Cleanliness in common areas like hot tubs has also been a concern for some visitors.

"I have stayed at this hotel a few times in the past 20 years (maybe 5 or 6 times) and I have to say it's gone down quite a bit. The place is in serious need of refurbishing to bring back the glow of the past. The room I had looked well worn and past it's prime. There are very few amenities there for travelers and the staff no longer cleans occupied rooms daily, you have the call or stop at the front desk for towels or if the trash is full. The evening I arrived, the person at the desk wasn't welcoming, no smile no greeting. She just asked for my information, gave a quick brief on lack of service and placed the key on the desk. That was the beginning of an unpleasant stay. I didn't spend much time in the hotel, it was a place to shower and sleep."

"I have never wrote a Google review but this was so bad I felt I needed to. The first thing is, the staff. They were so incredibly rude and bothered. Didn’t matter how nice I was. Simply asking for towels I got an eye roll or rude response. It didn’t matter where either, the coffee shop, casino, front desk. Attitude for no reason. Secondly, the room was unclean. My first room the bathroom had hair in the shower and sink and the countertops were dirty. So I asked to switch rooms. My second room wasn’t much better. WHITE Stains on all the furniture and carpet. Towels with stains. Dirty carpet. Dirty curtains. Dirty Finger prints on every door and on the walls. Mattress with giant brown stains on it. Overall unclean but doable. Not to mention the hotel food options and other accommodations were very limited. Very outdated and incredibly unkind staff. Oh, and security does a wellness check every 3 days to make sure you’re still alive. Because lord knows what goes on in their unimpressive casino."

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
While the hotel is primarily a casino, the outdoor pool offers a chance for kids to burn off energy. However, be aware that daily room cleaning is not standard, so you may need to request fresh towels or trash service. It's also worth noting that the hotel's focus is on gaming, so dedicated kid-friendly activities are limited.

If your priority is a place to sleep and gamble without breaking the bank, and you're not expecting luxury, Sam's Town can fit the bill. Just be prepared for a more dated atmosphere and potentially inconsistent service.
🚗 Road Trippers & Car Travelers
The hotel's classic Vegas vibe might appeal to those looking for a more nostalgic experience. You can easily drive to and from the property without navigating the heavy traffic often found on the Strip.

The Unique Indoor Atrium
Many visitors are surprised by the sheer scale and beauty of this indoor environment, which feels like stepping into another world. It's a testament to a bygone era of Vegas hotels that focused on creating immersive themed experiences. Whether you're enjoying a coffee, taking a break, or simply admiring the scenery, the atrium is a must-see attraction within Sam's Town.
Pro-tip: Check the schedule for the light and music show upon arrival to ensure you don't miss this spectacular display. It's a fantastic opportunity for unique photography and a moment of wonder.
Staff and Service Experiences
This inconsistency in service can significantly impact a guest's stay. For instance, some guests have noted that requesting basic amenities like towels or trash removal can be met with eye-rolls or curt responses, while others have highlighted waitresses like Ebony at Smokey Joe's Cafe as standouts for their positive demeanor and attentiveness. The craps dealers and cocktail waitresses also receive frequent commendations for their engaging and joyful interactions.
It appears that while Sam's Town has dedicated staff members who go above and beyond, there may be systemic issues affecting overall service quality. Managing expectations and being prepared to politely but firmly address any service shortcomings is advisable.
Room Condition and Amenities
Common complaints include stained carpets, dirty countertops, hair in bathrooms, stained towels, and even stained mattresses. Furthermore, the hotel has adjusted its service model, with occupied rooms no longer being cleaned daily unless requested. Guests must now proactively call or visit the front desk for services like towel replacement or trash removal.
Despite these concerns, some guests have found their rooms to be clean and functional, with maintenance issues being promptly addressed when reported. The spaciousness of some rooms, like the Magnolia Suite, has been a plus for families.
