What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
St. Paul's Episcopal Church is lauded for its stunning architecture, particularly its nave, sanctuary, and impressive stained glass windows. Visitors consistently praise the warm, welcoming nature of the congregation and the palpable sense of community and spiritual peace found within its walls. Some reviewers note historical complexities regarding segregation, wishing for more open acknowledgment of this past.
"This was a segregated congregation well into the 1960s. Well after the Federal mandate to desegregate. I wish the history of St. Paul's acknowledged this.
The book at Canaans Edge by Taylor Branch talks about this exact church."

"I’m going to give them a 5 because the folks were nice.
I went in to pay my respects to Leonidas Polk. The man was happy to take me turn by turn to the location, and he was just as surprised as I was to see that an organ had been moved on top of his grave, totally obscuring its view.
The gentleman with me didn’t realize they had already set up for a concert, so I was fine with it. Sure I’d have loved to have seen his grave, but it just wasn’t meant to be."

"St Paul's is one of the most historic church's in Selma. It is beautiful and the people are very welcoming!! The breakfast is one of the best I have ever had!!"
