What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the dramatic coastal scenery and the iconic, albeit distant, view of the 'Terrible Tilly' lighthouse. The hiking trails offer rewarding vistas, though some can be challenging. The main drawback is the inability to get close to the lighthouse, necessitating good zoom lenses for detailed viewing.
"Lush nature on the shore, beautiful walk and 2 different trails to get to the same point, a fairly easy and accessible one or the one with the best views that takes you by the cliff shoreline, but you can't actually get to the light house. Some of my pictures are a 30x zoom."

"The view is average, much better if you have some binoculars or a telephoto lens. The photo shown below if the light house is from my Samsung Galaxy s23 Ultra at 10x optical zoom. For reference. Don't expect to have a great view with the naked eye. There is a 5 dollar fee for day parking. There is a short loop to walk around, and there are also a couple trailheads from the main parking area. A gorgeous area!"

"The first time I visited, I took the Clatsop Trail which is pretty narrow. It was very muddy this time, so I took the Canon Beach Trail to be safe. The Canon Beach Trail is about 95% uphill and it did not feel that way to me when I took the Clatsop Trail. I went up for the sunset and it was pretty dark on the way back down, so keep that in mind. There are large rocks on the trail which can be tripping hazards, especially in the dark, so watch your step and bring a flashlight."
