The beautiful Sonoran Desert scenery, free parking, and clean facilities are frequently highlighted as major positives. "Great trail, I recently had leg surgery and needed a flat trail that I could navigate easily. Brown’s Ranch has a few trails and one impractical was extremely flat with little incline or decline. Just what my leg needed. It was nice to be able to get out and get a short trail walk done. Staff at the trailhead are really nice and informative. Easy to get to, close to Scottsdale road and the 101."

"Brown's Mountain Trail is so cool! You can climb to the tippy top! The trail is flat and rolling at first, then there is a steady incline. There are some switchbacks and then an area that is pretty steep right before the scenic overloook. From there, you can go up a narrow, rocky path to the tippy top...it is worth the extra effort! Highly recommend! If you don't want to do the elevation, there are several other flat trails to hike. The staff there are very helpful, and the restrooms are wonderfully clean and accommodating! Free parking, too!"

"After shopping, dining, and poolside lounging in the resort district of Scottsdale, my wife and I decided to venture 25 minutes north for a hike on a beautiful December Arizona morning. Brown's Ranch trailhead has hikes in the scenic Sonoran Desert ranging from very easy to extremely difficult and everything in between. At the trailhead visitor's center, we were met by helpful volunteer stewards who familiarized us with the network of trails. There are nice restrooms and a water bottle fill station for people, as well as a water bowl fill station for dogs. The hikes we took were splendid, with stately saguaro cacti and funky rock formations everywhere we looked. Songbirds were in abundance. There is no entrance fee, but a donation box is on site, and donations are appreciated."
