What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Green-Meldrim House for its stunning Gothic Revival architecture and its significant historical role as General Sherman's Civil War headquarters. Many highlight the knowledgeable and passionate docents who bring the house's stories to life. While most tours are excellent, occasional inconsistencies in guide quality have been noted.
"The house was beautiful. Our floor 2 tour guild has been a volunteer for over 20 years and was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable. The floor 1 guide was weirdly overexcited to the point of tripping over her words (said ummm a lot). She gushed for several minutes about how a painting of a straight faced woman "has the most soulful lively eyes" ( none of us could see it) and mentioned odd personal facts like the china cups reminding her of her own china that none of her children want."
Lorin Prange
"Wonderful tour full of history presented by an exceptional tour guide. I was part of the Windsor Forest Garden Club that toured the house. I phoned and contacted them for the tour ahead of time. When we showed up, our tour guide was ready for us! We were separated into two groups and were given a wonderful tour of this historical place!"
IRENE MICHAELS
"Loved the house and the tour! It was nice to be able to walk into the rooms and look around. So many times on tours rooms are corded off. Not on this tour! Wonderful and worth it!"
