What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning Mississippi River views and well-maintained trails, with many enjoying the peaceful campground atmosphere. Some drawbacks include evening mosquitoes and limited cell service, but the natural beauty and accessibility of overlooks make it a highly recommended destination.
"Mississippi Palisades is a beautiful state park. You can find wild flowers everywhere. Lots of good trails and overlooks to just sit and enjoy the views of the Mississippi River. Ozzie's has the best view at sunset.
The campground has many sites, large and leveled. Some with partial or no shade, however. We've camped here many times and it's almost always full, yet pleasantly quiet and enjoyable. The restrooms are clean and in decent shape.
The drawbacks: The mosquitoes do tend to get bad in the evening and there is little to no signal in most areas of the campground."

"Mississippi Palisades State Park is a lovely park overlooking the river. It is well maintained, nice green spaces, woods with trails & views of the River, picnic areas, clean restrooms, and rock climbing. We're hikers, so we combined Sentinel, Pine, and Sunset. Maps are at the rangers office. There were some wider paths, but I liked that most of the trails were narrow "goat-paths", especially, leading to lookout on Sentinel and all of Sunset. Pine is the longest and leads to the Twin Sisters. We did 4.6 miles between them all, and ended the day very tired."

"The state park is beautiful, plenty of picnic tables and places for large groups or spots to get "away " from others. Trails looked to be well maintained , and the campground in spots looked like plenty of room between sites. I tent camped there and our spot was great !"
