This is really sad! This is what used to be one of the most beautiful and vibrant shopping centers in the country with its spiraling & unusual curved escalators and decorative glass ceiling. It’s the former Westfield San Francisco Centre,,,now just named San Francisco Centre. Unfortunately most of the stores are vacant with paper covering the windows & the anchor stores (Nordstrom’s & Bloomingdale...

Reviews Summary

Visitors are captivated by the San Francisco Centre's stunning architecture, particularly its dome and unique escalators, often describing it as a beautiful but sadly emptying space. While many shops are closed, the building's grandeur and historical significance make it a worthwhile visit for its visual appeal and a glimpse into its past. Some express hope for future revitalization amidst foreclosure concerns.

"The Centre is really just a huge mall. I wish the upper floors were open, as of writing this, you can only get to the 4th floor and I read it has 9 floors so its about half what it could really be in its prime. However that aside it is still an amazing building and I love the place, of I could live there I would. Visit once before something gets changed, it's suppose to be sold as the time of writing this, September 2025. Check it out, mall walk, take some pictures, try to learn some history of you can, and just appreciate it while it lasts."

"Prime location, but this mall is dying. Sad food court, out-of-date directory, and most spaces empty. Or, it could be that leases are not being renewed in preparation for big things to come. I hope it’s the latter. Not much happening here now."

Troy Windhorst

"Awesome mall, huge but empty, great for architecture photos though! Beautiful place! Definitely worth a visit! Sadly not many shops were open when I came to visit."
