What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Villa Finale for its beautiful architecture, extensive art collection, and charming gardens, calling it a hidden gem. However, some guests have reported feeling uncomfortable due to overly attentive staff, and others have missed tours due to strict adherence to hours, particularly in summer.
"Beautiful house. Beautiful collection from the owner who restored the house. Why 3 stars? Because the staff made me feel incredibly uncomfortable the whole time I was in the home. You must purchase a ticket from a building at the backside of the property. I did. She asked if I had a large bag with me, I did not. I had a small wallet clutch that my phone and keys barely fit in. They have lockers if you do have a large bag. I was given a sticker and told to go to front of house. I waited till someone opened the door so that I may enter. I was given some basic rules for entering, all good and totally acceptable. I was given a little history of the house and was told it was a self guided tour. But it wasn’t self guided, you people followed me around watching my every single move. I would look over my shoulder and find one of you starring at me and then slowly backing up as to not get caught. I heard you behind me, the house creeks. I understand the house is filled with valuable antiques, some being small. But then put that stuff behind a partition! Stop watching people. I couldn’t even enjoy the beauty of this house because I was so uncomfortable. Someone has to escort you upstairs, which again is fine. You are doing too much. Both attendants in the house were incredible rude with their behavior. I wouldn’t return or suggest going here for the behavior of the staff. You the cameras all over the house, stop watching people."

"Get here early to secure a tour. Summer hour tours end at 2:30. I don't know if you can explore the house on your own. Some of the other reviews stated there were self guides tours though. I arrived at 2:40 and missed the last tour and was not allowed to go inside. The curator was a little unpleasant as she informed us about the "summer hours". A kind of "to bad to sad your late" attitude. You can park on the street which is mostly shaded by giant trees. Located in a beautiful area, any one of the scores of homes we passed could have been the museum. We were reluctantly allowed to explore the grounds around the grounds around the house, but were informed that the property would be "shut down" at 3. Despite the unwelcome greetings, we are planning on returning to make sure we can see the entire estate. After we explored the grounds, we made our way to the river walk directly behind the house. A turn to the right leads you to a damn which was worth exploring. After we exited the damn, we activated some Veo scooters and made our way back to our vehicle."

"This was a gem to get to explore, and to learn about. The tour is self guided, but Doug was happy to answer any and all questions, and tell us where to find more info as well. If you’re at all interested in historical homes and collections, this is an absolute must see. We could have spent the entire day and still not absorbed everything."
