Take a look inside the infamous Rio Grande Depot here in #saltlakecityutah . We’re going underground to see some, at the time, state-of-the-art concrete work completed back in the early 1900s. Thanks to our Preservation Architect Jansen Bennett for the tour!

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Rio Grande Depot for its beautiful, well-preserved historic architecture and its significance to Salt Lake City's past. However, concerns about the surrounding area's safety after dark and the ongoing renovations limiting full access are frequently mentioned. Many wish for its return as a functional train station.

"It’s a really cool building. There are police that sit in front parked. All day. Inside looks a lot bigger in person. At night, the letters glow for the world to see & admire. I like the history of the building. It’s hard to imagine what Salt Lake looked like when this building was built. I wonder if there were more people homeless back then. The surrounding streets are not safe after dark."

Bling Viera

"Beautiful, well preserved building. If you're just visiting the building its self, you won't be allowed to explore the 2nd floor but everything can be seen from the 1st floor. Right now there's a golden spike railroad tribute art display (4/30/19) celebrating 200 years."

Dee Skirvin

"Beautiful building. Needs to be a train station again. Our city deserves SO much better than that POS on 600 west. Adopt the Rio Grande Plan and bring SLC into the modern era with style."
