"You're not going to find a lot here right now. It sounds like the city is working to fix the place up. The buildings are all fenced off and in pretty severe disrepair. The paths are badly chewed up. But the place has a lot of personality if you're into something a bit different. The peacocks were a very neat surprise."

"In "transition" as this historical place undergoes a face-lift. There is fencing everywhere and a guard near the front so public hours are strictly enforced. It is a peaceful hidden gem. The guard was super friendly and informed me he was there to discourage the homeless community who wanted to use the buildings in the past. A wonderful place to walk and wonder about the past. Changes will be coming if the city keeps it's promises so I recommend going now before the past is becomes just lost history."

"A peaceful and quirky little time capsule along Emigration Creek just east of 1300 East. Originally developed in the 1930's by Dr. George A. Allen, it contained a bird refuge and homes for Allen and several of his eccentric friends. The homes, many constructed with logs, still stand, and even a few peacocks remain. So glad this little urban refuge is being preserved. It is a haunting but calming place, especially in the winter."
