What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Chestnut Hill Cemetery to be a peaceful and well-maintained municipal burial ground. It's appreciated for its serene atmosphere, making it ideal for quiet contemplation and strolls. While many enjoy the tranquility, some may find it lacks specific tourist amenities beyond its historical significance.
"A municipal cemetery operated by the city of Salisbury, Chestnut Hill was established in 1888 and the first burials were in 1889.
Of course, many Salisbury notables are buried here, but also actor Sidney Blackmer (who appeared in 1968's Rosemary's Baby), actor Suzanne Kaaren (who appeared in 8 The Three Stooges films), as well as US Congressmen and Senators including John Steele (1764-1815) who was appointed as Comptroller of the Treasury by both Presidents John Adams and Jefferson.
The cemetery is in very good condition and while the narrow roads are drivable, I would suggest parking and walking."
