Visitors praise the Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area for its stunning natural beauty and thrilling outdoor activities, especially whitewater rafting. The area offers a great mix of adventure and relaxation, with opportunities for fishing, hiking, and camping. Some find the visitor center small, but its information is valuable for planning.
"Lovely spot for all things outdoors! Great views, picnic tables and play places for the kiddos with a small amphitheater. The river is quiet, soothing and clean. Plenty of shopping and restaurants around for fun."
Robbie Jansky
"The location on the map is the Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area OFFICE. Is there a different place to review the actual Recreation Area? Or should I not review the office here? Google Maps can be really confusing sometimes.
The office (headquarters?) area open to the public is quite small. There are a lot of tourist information brochures available and a very small gift shop space.
There is a computer/kiosk/thingy OUTSIDE the office where you can buy a Colorado State Parks Pass.
There's also a educational/interactive area aimed at kids.
It is free to enter this building."
Travel Gal
"Nice place to pull over and stretch has picnic tables bbq grill bathroom. Deck to look at the river."
