What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Reviews for 'Downtown Frames' (a framing business, not a mural location) highlight exceptional customer service, professional expertise, and high-quality framing. Customers praise the staff's attentiveness and ability to handle challenging projects, making it a go-to for custom framing needs. The shop is noted for its personal touch and veteran-owned status.
"They were very professional and helpful. The gentleman that helped me choose everything was great at choosing what would look good given the picture and the idea I already had when I walked in. Bonus in my Historian heart is the lady's credentials, experience, and meticulousness. I forgot to call and let her know a friend was picking it up for me (because arctic weather of course) and she called to verify when my friend stopped by.
And the gentleman seemed extremely excited to do my picture, so I wonder if he's an old school wrestling fan :)
Either way, the enthusiasm greatly added to the experience.
(Forgive the quality of my picture of the piece)"

"THANK YOU to Downtown Frames for getting my first two degrees framed — the Atchison office finally looks complete! This is the second time I’ve been there and I won’t go anywhere else."

"The custom frame businesses I have used are no longer in business, Wallflowers and The Frame Station. Downtown Frames is the only custom frame business I can find in St. Joseph. Hobby lobby and Michael's are not a place to get a custom frame, in my opinion of course. I don't go downtown very often and was hesitant but I have found me a NEW HOME. I had a piece of art that my 44 year old son drew when he was 8 or 9 and a Pine tree I designed with buttons. They were both challenging but turned out perfect! I picked them up today and couldn't be more pleased. I will taking all my projects there from now on for just that personal touch a professional can give you."

In-depth insights and expert knowledge
The Dynamic Nature of Street Art
For instance, San Antonio's Dream Mural Arts District features rotating mural walls that refresh annually, ensuring a constantly evolving visual experience. Similarly, Graffiti Alley in Toronto is described as an 'ever-changing canvas,' where layers of art are built upon each other. This dynamism is part of the allure, encouraging repeat visits to see what's new.
To make the most of your mural exploration, it's wise to check local art blogs, city tourism sites, or social media accounts for the most current information on installations and featured artists. This proactive approach helps ensure you don't miss out on temporary masterpieces.
Navigating Downtown Artscapes
Public transportation is frequently recommended as an efficient way to reach downtown areas, especially in larger cities where parking can be difficult and costly. Once you're in the vicinity, walking is usually the best method to discover the art up close and stumble upon hidden gems. Some cities even offer specific public art walking or biking tours, which can provide a curated experience and historical context.
When planning your route, consider using online maps or dedicated street art apps that pinpoint mural locations. This can help you create an itinerary and maximize your time, ensuring you see a good range of the available street art.
The Community and Artist Connection
Content creators often showcase the artists behind the work, highlighting their styles and the messages they convey. For example, Shamsia Hassani's mural in Los Angeles, 'The Paper Made Piano,' is part of a larger project by @streetartmankind aimed at empowering artists. This connection to the artist's intent adds a deeper layer to the viewing experience.
If you're inspired by the art, look for artist credits on the murals or search for local art organizations. Supporting these artists, whether through social media engagement or purchasing their work, is a great way to contribute to the urban art scene.
