What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Cedar Creek Recreation Area for its extensive trail network, offering diverse options for hikers and particularly for mountain bikers. The opportunity for wildlife sightings is a consistent highlight. However, the lack of clear trail signage is a recurring point of frustration for many, requiring visitors to be well-prepared with maps.
"A great place to take a nature walk! The path is pretty well maintained but there isn’t a lot of signage. It’s worth looking at the map and taking a picture. As for the hike itself there’s several paths to choose from and it’s got minor hills. We had lots of wildlife say hello to us."
Angela Trejo
"Visited this trail for birdwatching. The trails are well kept. There are unfortunately not enough trail markers. It is worth taking a picture of the trail map at the entrance to facilitate navigation. Wildlife and bird activity is relatively low, likely because of the lack of rain and recent forest fires."
Beto
"Best mountain biking trail in Ruidoso, probably also the best in New Mexico. I have been riding here for 8 years, and have probably ridden the downhill trail several hundred times. The trails are well built and have good scenery, although the recent South Fork fire did a lot of damage to the trees in this area. There is a lot of variety in the trails, ranging from short and easy to double black diamond. If you are in Ruidoso but don't have bikes, I would recommend renting some so you can ride here."
