Reviews Summary

Visitors find the David Sarnoff Preserve offers a unique Pine Barrens landscape with opportunities to see flora and wildlife. However, the experience is significantly impacted by a severe tick problem and challenging trail navigation due to poor signage. Many advise extreme caution and thorough preparation.

"Pretty nice walk, mainly used for hunting so the real time I would want to hike here you aren't able to. There were 8-10 little ticks found off of me and my father each when we got out. Thankfully my high, tight socks prevented them from going anywhere on my legs. I would spray a lot of bug spray just to be sure."

"Went for a family hike. Instead of a 40 min trail it took us 2.5 hours. We got looped around 3x because of poor signage on the red trail. Don’t recommend."

Marina Tarasova

"I recently went to the pine barrens with my boyfriend, his sister and our dog. We were excited to hike the trails for a few hours but about thirty minutes in we noticed hundreds, if not thousands, of tick larvae climbing all over us. They completely consumed our clothes, open skin areas, dogs fur, etc. (see picture below) None of us have ever experienced something like this, with such a mass amount of ticks, so we called the emergency line. The woman who answered noted that we should have worn tick spray and had no further advice or words of wisdom. We spent hours researching the best ways to rid ourselves of these parasites, showering, bug bombing, and cleaning. Needless to say, I do not recommend."
