"An overnight visit to East Brother Light Station is an incredible experience. Innkeepers Rae and Danielle somehow manage to do everything: transportation to and from the island, historical tour of the facilities, a delightful charcuterie with champagne followed by an amazing 4-course dinner, well-made-up rooms, and storytelling -- and that was just the evening! We were highly impressed with their commitment to using locally-sourced food whenever possible; the garden bisque served for our soup course was incredible! They work seamlessly as a team in the many aspects of running this establishment, and service was always with a smile. The power went out the morning we were there (thankfully after they had prepared a large pot of coffee for the guests), yet breakfast was delicious, despite their apologies for not being able to serve what they had planned. Having Rae start up the old machinery so that we could experience the old fog horn was a real treat as well. With the power out for the entire area, we also got to watch as she and Danielle lowered the transport boat into the water using the old diesel generator (Rae) and a captain's skill (Danielle). While I'm sure the electricity situation was stressful for them that morning, they did not show any stress or frustration to their guests. We stayed in the 1873 lighthouse for this trip (our room had a lovely view of the lights of San Francisco at night), but we are now planning to return and spend the night in "Walter's Quarters" in the Fog Signal building for a slightly different experience. We already know that the food and customer service will be stellar. Five stars, highly recommended!"

The history and being able to be part of such a beautiful location with delicious and artistically prepared food was wonderful. We met a fabulous group of people and all ten of us were so grateful too be able to stay at such a unique location. The beds were comfortable and views were outstanding."

"What a fabulous place! My husband and I had a wonderful time on East Brother, thanks to the magic of the place itself and the outstanding hospitality of our hosts, who are delightful and gifted with an astonishing range of skills that they put to good use. Because we were the only guests on a Sunday night, we had a chance to hear some of Rae and Danielle's visions for the lighthouse, and they were genuinely inspired. Really, the entire experience was magical–the rooms, the food, the conversation, the wildlife viewing. I can't recommend it enough!"
