The Joel Lane Museum House has been lovingly preserved and maintained by the colonial Dames for ever and this house is over 200 years old. A house built in 1762 by hand by craftsman, artists, Slaves, women who birthed 10 children to get 2, without electricity and hot water.

The grounds garden and courtyard are quaint and beautifully maintained. The house and adjacent kitchen buildings are very well kept . We also found the gift shop inviting and found several souvenirs to purchase. Definitely a must visit for locals and visitors to Raleigh."
