Reviews Summary

Visitors find Charles Baber Cemetery & Arboretum to be a peaceful and beautiful place, appreciated for its natural setting and historical elements like the unique gateway and chapel. It's a favored spot for quiet walks and reflection, though some note potential concerns about the grounds' upkeep regarding flooding. Reddit+1

"The Charles Baber Cemetery has the curb appeal, starting with a tall stone wall along the street and a large Egyptian Revival gateway entrance. Somewhat between the garden park style cemetery and the lawn style cemetery, it is a lot more "united with nature" than many. There are quite a few trees and shrubs and the stately Chapel of the Resurrection which is in a Gothic design.

There do not seem to be any rhyme or restriction for the memorial plots. A variety of different styles and sizes. One of the largest is near the entrance, that of David Gottlieb Yuengling (March 2, 1808 - September 27, 1877) who was the founder and first president of America's oldest brewery here in Pottsville, D. G. Yuengling & Son."

"It's a very cool place to walk through, but it looks like it's one good flood away from the graves being exposed and bank collapsing."

Eleanor Schultz

"I go there a bunch of times to see my loved ones who have died and I remember my Grammy's funeral, we have buried her in the ground and I miss her so much and and we said goodbye when she passed away since 2021 and I'll never stop thinking about my loved ones"
