Reviews Summary

Visitors appreciate the diverse international food selection and good value at Portland Public Market, with many enjoying the upstairs dining area. However, inconsistent vendor hours can lead to disappointment, with some popular spots being closed unexpectedly. Reddit

"This review is for The Frying Dutchman

As other reviewers have mentioned, the Public Market House has a great variety of local foods, but the downside is that each vendor runs their own hours, making it challenging to have the full range of options when you visit. We wanted to try Mr. Tuna or YardiTing, but both vendors were closed at the time.

We settled on The Frying Dutchman (located on the second floor). Both of our meals were “just ok.” My sister had the mapo poutine and the “fries” corndog. I had the curry fried chicken, the “panko” corndog, and the “ramen” corndog. I thought the curry fried chicken was the best.

We over-ordered because we wanted to try a bit of everything, as this was our first time having Korean corndogs. But really, one order of corndogs or fried chicken is enough for lunch because the food is heavy and greasy. I did like the “pick 2” option for the corndogs because of the variety offered. The price point is good for the amount of food received.

I recommend checking out the Public Market House, but I wouldn’t go back to The Frying Dutchman. Based on the reviews I’ve read, there are better options available - if you're lucky enough to show up at the right time."

"This place is all right. They have a handful of different vendors and food places and there's a dining space upstairs. You would think this place would be packed and there'd be a whole bunch. More people in the weekends but always seems to be quiet and not all the vendors seem to be open at the same time."
