What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Casco Bay Lines is praised for its affordability and scenic beauty, offering a genuine taste of Maine island life. While parking can be a hassle and tickets are first-come, first-served for regular routes, the overall experience is highly valued for its value and the stunning views it provides.
"We took the mail boat tour (3pm, late October) and it was a highlight of our time in Portland. This is an absolute must for anyone travelling through. It's pretty cheap, you bring along any food/drinks you'd like, and then just sit back and relax awhile. We brought snacks and some spiked ice teas, sat up on the bow, and had a great time. The sun was setting by the time we were on our way back and it was just perfect. Dress warmer than you think you need to if you're going to sit outside (at least in October). The captain gave some fun notes about the places as we stopped but the ride back was mostly silent and just delightfully peaceful."

"This turned out to be a great way for us to enjoy a ferry ride around multiple islands in the Portland, Maine area. There are multiple options for Ferry rides. Our choice was for multiple islands hopper ferry that goes to islands, drop passengers and pick them on the way back. It helped that the weather was perfect and sun was about to set. Just loved it. Very low cost for this no frills/luxury ride."

"I really enjoyed the trip on the bay lines! Didn't expect it to be so cheap (under $25) for 3 hours of looking around. Make sure you read the map and the history of each item as you pass it. That was really neat touch. I actually liked being down below as no one was down there, the windows were open and the sun wasn't beating down on you. It also has tables incase you wanna eat dinner."
