Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Pine Creek Gorge for its stunning natural beauty, peaceful atmosphere, and breathtaking canyon views, especially during the vibrant fall foliage season. Many appreciate the lack of commercialization and the opportunity to enjoy nature at a slower pace. Some find the steep trails challenging on the return climb, and occasional navigation issues can arise.

"Pine Creek Gorge is incredibly peaceful and beautiful. The views stretch for miles, with the river winding quietly through the bottom of the valley. In fall, the whole landscape turns into layers of red, orange, yellow, and deep green — it genuinely looks like a painted postcard.

There are two main overlooks, Leonard Harrison and Colton Point, both giving amazing but slightly different angles of the canyon. You can just enjoy the overlooks, or take the Turkey Path Trail down if you’re in the mood for more hiking.

It’s quiet, calm, and not overly commercial, which makes it easy to slow down and just enjoy nature. There are also a few EV chargers in the parking area, which is a nice bonus for road trips.

A perfect place to take photos, breathe mountain air, and enjoy a slower pace.
Highly recommend."

The trail is remarkably flat, making it accessible for all fitness levels and a fantastic way to experience the canyon floor up close. Instagram

Many visitors opt to bike sections of the trail, often splitting the 65 miles into two days with an overnight stay in Wellsboro or a nearby town. Along the way, you'll encounter abundant wildlife, charming bridges, and ever-changing views of the creek and surrounding forests. It's a truly immersive way to appreciate the scale and beauty of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. InstagramReddit

Key features of the PCRT:
* Length: 65 miles
* Surface: Crushed stone
* Activities: Biking, walking, running, cross-country skiing
* Accessibility: Generally flat and accessible, though some sections may be rougher.
* Services: Trailheads with parking, restrooms, and information are available at various points.

The Iconic Overlooks: East vs. West Rim

Pine Creek Gorge is best viewed from its rims, with two primary state parks offering distinct perspectives. Leonard Harrison State Park on the east rim is perhaps the most famous, featuring a large, accessible overlook that provides sweeping, unobstructed views of the vast canyon.
