I got there half an hour before opening, it was nice and cool for the duration of my time and I was able to secure a good spot. The staff is very friendly and accommodating to those who need sitting space or shade first and foremost. Definitely dirty and wet work, but a great activity to try out by yourself or with others.
It’s a luck of the draw and dependent on how well your eyes spot the stones, but extremely fun and rewarding when you do find one! Definitely check the weather and bring gear if you need (chairs, shade, snacks, etc.)"

We went to a mine closer to Helena today and I caught the guy dumping Sapphires in our bag. It was a scam. If you plan on going Sapphire mining, Gem Mountain is the only place to go. It was a well run, professional operation. It will be the only place we ever go to bring visitors to experience Sapphire hunting!!!"
