While the museum architecture is a bit dated, the exhibits are extremely well done. An audio tour is available which provides much context to the exhibits. The audio tour also offers the chance to choose a person who actually participated in the war and follow their story. You learn a lot about the life of average soldiers in a most engaging manner.

"The pictures don't do this place justice. We stopped here in the middle of a 9-hour drive. So we only had 1.5 hours to spare. We will need to come again to see it all again. 3 hours would be more realistic.
My kids are 9,7, and 5. And they didn't complain once.
We just read "Laura Ingalls Wilder." I'm sure this helped the kids connect to the time period."
