Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Petaluma Historical Library and Museum for its fascinating local artifacts and the stunning architecture of the former Carnegie Library. The free admission is a significant draw, though a $5 donation is suggested and appreciated. Some note the accessibility challenges due to stairs to the second floor.

"What an interesting array of local artifacts. And of course, the building is a work of art. The museum is housed in what was once a Carnegie Public Library. This type of museum is often referred to as a visual storage museum. In other words, the artifacts are on display all the time with rarely a rotation of historic items. But that is great because one can return often to delight in revisiting some of the special items.
P.S. THE MUSEUM IS FREE!"

"My hubby and i enjoyed our visit to this historical place. There’s so much to see and rich in history and culture , despite its decent size compared to other museums. I felt transported back in time as I admired artifacts from past eras. The donation fee is $5 per person which wasn’t too bad. I would highly recommend a visit to this cool place."

"What a unique building and great museum for anyone interested in local history. We went in and viewed the exhibit upstairs first about how egg production was huge local industry a long time ago. Then we saw some of the exhibit on the lower floor about Vallejo. The staff were friendly and greeted us nicely. It's a cool and relaxing place to be on a warm day. I appreciated that their exhibits had diverse points of view, for example, showing a Japanese American family and their business and also showing the timeline of blacks in Petaluma. One downside is the stairs are the only way to get up to the second floor, which is a little inaccessible for an older family member who was with me."
