"I’m writing in sincere regret to share my tragic experience at this location 9/29/24. Me and 4 ladies from church met after service to engage in bible study and worship at what we believed to be a public park location. Unfortunately with no signs being posted otherwise he had not known we were considered trespassing until we were rudely and aggressively approached by a man stating he owned the property. Sadly we were asked to leave this location …which should have been fine once he agreed to allow time for the ladies to gather belongings and disperse. However these weren’t the intentions because the situation began to escalate to racial slurs and profane language toward me and my peers. The man did state there was in fact another area of the marina where we could resume study..but this was not the case either. Law enforcement were involved and we were ultimately asked to leave both areas of the park altogether as to we were then deemed trespassers of the marina and the park area as well. It’s unfortunate that this was a gathering of Godly intention and the devil worked so hard to destroy and manipulate. Not living far from this area I often would visit growing up when the park was even suitable for use which now it is not. I simply share this experience to express my disgust and dissatisfaction with the treatment received and I will be doing everything in my power to make sure my voice is heard and that a situation of this magnitude does not occur if not go further with another law abiding citizen in Peoria Illinois. I would not visit this location again and I will make sure others locally and visiting know the reason why that is. A photo of the man featured in this encounter will be added to this post below."
