What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Paoli Peaks offers an accessible and affordable winter sports experience, particularly praised for its family-friendly atmosphere and accommodating staff, especially for guests with special needs. However, visitors frequently mention significant wait times for equipment rentals and occasional icy slope conditions.
"Had a great time as an Epic Pass holder and owning my own equipment. Snow was icy in the morning and soft in the afternoon. Smooth sailing. However do feel for the folks that needed to rent equipment. It certainly isn’t a big resort out west. Have worked and skied many, but skiing the ice and parking at the top at Paoli is where I renewed.Long lines for sure at equipment rental."

"I planned a last minute trip for myself and my daughter who is special needs to go to Paoli to snow tube. When we arrived snow tubing was shut down for reasons that were not foreseeable.
We were both very disappointed. However, we went to the main building for a refund and to inquire about skiing, as the staff recommended.
Upon my arrival at the main building I spoke with a manager and explained the situation. He contacted another manager and within minutes they had made accommodations for my daughter and set up skiing lessons for the both of us with Jeremy.
I cannot say enough positive things about the staff. I was afraid our trip was going to be very stressful but it turned out to be anything but that!
The entire staff were very helpful and pleasant.
I highly recommend Paoli and am excited to return next season for another attempt at skiing."

"Make sure to buy your lift tickets online. And you can go to the service area in the second floor and get your card (lift ticket pass/general pass) if u don’t need to rent equipment, it’s A LOT quicker.
If you do need to rent— the line for rentals is quite long so consider it when planning your visit but you can take care of both your lift ticket card and rental equipment in the same line. Make sure to have your confirmation number tho :)
Overall from arrival to actual skiing time aka we are on the snow ready to go, we spent prob 2.5hrs.
They do offer lockers for around $5 and they do have a food court area with socially distanced tables.
There was a lack of coordination by staff when it came to letting people know where to head towards once arriving at Paoli, depending on whether you are renting equipment or not. So watch out for that.
It’s a bit pricey but it’s for the whole day so it’s not bad at all, great way to have fun. For a Saturday all day ticket, it was $49 and for ski equipment it was $34. Parking is free. Food isn’t that pricey and they have decent selection.
Most crazier slopes are closed, so the ones open are def more on the busier side FYI. You’ll have to be patient when riding lifts and actually using the slopes."

Navigating the Slopes and Rentals
However, a significant point of feedback from visitors is the lengthy wait times for equipment rentals. Many reviews highlight spending 2-3 hours from arrival to actually getting on the snow due to disorganized rental processes and long queues. To mitigate this, booking lift tickets online in advance is strongly advised, and if you need rentals, be prepared for a substantial wait. Some visitors suggest that if you own your equipment, the experience is much smoother.
Conditions on the slopes can vary, with some reviews noting that the snow can become icy, particularly in the late afternoon or evening. This is something to be aware of, especially for less experienced skiers. Despite these challenges, many visitors still find Paoli Peaks to be an enjoyable and affordable option for a day of winter fun.
Family Fun and Special Needs Accommodations
One particularly heartwarming aspect highlighted by a reviewer was the resort's accommodation for a child with special needs. When snow tubing was unexpectedly closed, the management went above and beyond to arrange skiing lessons and ensure a positive experience, demonstrating a commitment to guest satisfaction. This level of personalized service can make a significant difference for families planning a trip with specific needs.
While the main focus is on winter sports, the resort also provides amenities like a food court and lockers, adding to the convenience for families spending the day. The overall sentiment from families is that Paoli Peaks offers good value for affordable family fun.
Understanding the Epic Pass and Resort Affiliation
Being part of a major resort chain also implies certain standards and operational structures. However, some reviews suggest that Paoli Peaks, while affiliated, may not always match the scale or operational efficiency of larger, Western resorts. This can manifest in aspects like rental line organization and overall resort management, as noted by some long-time Epic Pass holders.
For those considering a visit, understanding the Epic Pass benefits is key. It simplifies the ticketing process if you already have the pass, but it's still crucial to be aware of potential wait times for rentals and to check operating hours and conditions, as with any ski resort.
