What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Monarch Grove Sanctuary a beautiful and peaceful place, especially during peak monarch season. While some note that butterflies can be high in the trees or less prevalent off-season, the serene atmosphere and the chance to witness nature's wonders make it a worthwhile stop. It's praised as a lovely, free experience for a calming walk.
"We went on OCTOBER 28th, at this time the butterflies were flying around a little bit. A few days after this would be a good time. The butterflies are in clusters high up in branches so you really have to stare to find one. The clusters look dark but with a camera if you zoom in and increase the exposure/(force a bright capture) you can get their beautiful color. This is just a sweet place to visit on a walk whether you have time or you’re staying at one of the many hotels near by I recommend stopping by."

"Beautiful short stroll through the sanctuary. Butterflies are not prevalent at this time.(mid December). The ones we did see seemed to prefer the backyards of adjacent homes."
Ron Prewitt
"Very sweet to be amongst the Monarch's and Pacific Grove has done a terrific job of making you feel invited on the 2+ acre sanctuary. If you have a telephoto lens, your pics may come out better."
