What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Lifetime Fitness Olathe offers a visually appealing facility with a wide range of amenities and popular dance classes. However, many members find it overpriced and poorly managed, citing issues with equipment maintenance, inconsistent cleanliness, and reduced Kids Club hours. While staff are friendly, the overall value proposition is debated due to these recurring problems.
"Gym looks nice at surface level but once you start going consistently there are flaws. it’s overpriced and poorly managed. StairMasters and treadmills are often broken, Pilates costs extra on top of $200+ a month, and the free classes take over the gym during peak hours. Girls’ locker room locks are always jammed. Machines are dirty, people don’t wipe down, come in sick..and there are kids everywhere, yelling and running around. Staff is very nice, but that’s about it"

"I've been a member 7 yrs... really starting to wonder how dues can continue to be raised. The kids club has never gone back to regular hours - and even got cut back so if someone wants to do any evening class, it can be very difficult to do so with kiddos in tow. Friday evenings there is no coverage which is a great night for parents to work out or even go out. We were actually charged a guest pass for bringing my spouse's 11 yr old daughter this month - we've been bringing her more than several times and always had a waiver on file. We do not buy a membership because we only have her every other weekend during the school year, and if or when she comes with us the time we have her in the summer, she walks on the treadmill with us and does not even use the kids club. Yet somehow they couldn't find her waiver on file, and also charged us the guest pass for a minor (have never experienced that). I've brought my young nieces in the past, no issues like that.
The equipment is becoming dirtier and dirtier - not seeming to ever be cleaned (photo included). I have been to much smaller gyms where the upkeep is ten times more mindful. The plate holders were taken out and now there seems to be a constant fight for plates, and we have even had members take plates off of mine or my spouse's bar in the middle of our sets with no ask or courtesy to at least try to share.
It is a hard battle to choose to stay or go. I love the dance classes and they are a big reason I stay, as well as the pool amenities - but even that has become difficult and overpriced. Not sure what can be done at this point to dissuade us from leaving once our baby is due in March."

"This is another scammer Gym. I been a member at this gym when I joined its $99 and then after a year I did added my wife for $60 plus tax I used to $pay 180 something. After 5 months I removed my wife since no longer uses it which I suppose to pay $99 again instead of that they made a contract with new membership as $159 what a joke. Time to move on."

Understanding Lifetime Fitness Membership Costs
Beyond the base membership, certain amenities and services come with additional costs. For instance, Pilates classes are not included in the standard membership and require an extra fee. This tiered pricing model means that accessing the full range of offerings can become substantially more expensive. The value proposition is therefore highly dependent on how much an individual plans to utilize the various premium features and classes. A detailed discussion with a membership advisor about all potential costs is highly recommended.
Navigating the Olathe Facility: Crowds, Cleanliness, and Equipment
Cleanliness is another area of concern for some members. Reports suggest that machines and locker rooms are not consistently cleaned, and there's a general observation of a lack of upkeep. This can be particularly off-putting for individuals who prioritize a hygienic workout environment. Furthermore, issues like jammed locker room locks have been mentioned, adding to the list of minor inconveniences. While the staff is generally described as nice, the operational management of the facility's upkeep and equipment maintenance appears to be a recurring point of dissatisfaction for a segment of the membership base.
Family Amenities and Policies at Lifetime Fitness Olathe
Policies regarding guests, especially minors, can also be a source of confusion and frustration. One member reported being charged a guest pass fee for their spouse's 11-year-old daughter, even though she had visited before without issue and did not use the Kids Club, instead walking on a treadmill with them. This incident highlights a potential lack of clarity or inconsistency in how guest policies are applied, particularly concerning minors. It's essential for families to clarify all guest policies and waiver requirements in advance to avoid unexpected charges or issues.
