What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally praise Universal's Great Movie Escape for its immersive theming and engaging puzzles, especially for fans of Back to the Future and Jurassic World. While the price is noted as a bit high, many feel the experience justifies the cost. Some reviews mention potential issues with time limits and being paired with other groups, suggesting booking a full room is ideal.
"I am a HUGE Back to the Future fan, and I took a solo trip back in May - I swore when I came back for HHN, I was gonna do the escape room, and boy howdy, it did NOT disappoint. Is Nico cheesy? Sure. But the rooms were great, and I felt like I was actually in the movie. The only qualm I have is that I would recommend doing this with friends/family. I was solo again and was paired with a family - they were incredibly kind but I wanted them to feel like they had a shot at figuring out the puzzles rather than jumping to it… but once again, that was my own doing. I’m hoping to return with my own friends to complete the puzzle and hopefully get the Time Traveler Pioneer. For a park that really has limited BTTF stuff, I thoroughly enjoyed this escape game and would do it again in a heartbeat. It is a little more expensive, but I honestly thought the price was pretty justified. The only thing I wish is that I could take photos in the room (especially at the Enchantment Under the Sea stage), but then that would detract from the puzzles… all of this is to say is if you love the movie, you’ll enjoy the rooms."

"Albeit it's $50 price tag, this was more than just A escape room. Plenty of intuitive puzzles thru MULTIPLE rooms in different time eras. Our group managed to get all 16/16 puzzles.
The replay ability for this room is minimal due to the physical sets when compared to the Jurassic World one (according to the staff)"

"A few of my friends and I went a few weeks back and we had a blast! We did the Jurassic World experience and it was exactly that, an experience. The puzzles were unique and a nice change of pace from the typical escape room because this was more so about the players being a part of the story. Shout out to Carlin, Beverly, and Alexa! They were all very helpful, nice, and knowledgeable."

Choosing Your Cinematic Adventure
For fans of the iconic time-traveling trilogy, the Back to the Future escape room is a must-do. You'll find yourself in Hill Valley, interacting with elements from the films and working to correct the timeline. While some describe the character interactions as 'cheesy,' the overall experience is highly praised by fans of the movie, making you feel like you're truly part of the adventure.
When deciding, consider your personal fandom. If you're a die-hard BTTF enthusiast, that room is likely your top choice. If you prefer a more action-packed, creature-feature vibe with potentially more varied puzzles, Jurassic World might be the better fit.
The Escape Room Experience: Puzzles and Immersion
Puzzles are designed to be intuitive and varied, often requiring teamwork and keen observation. While many guests report successfully solving all puzzles, some reviews suggest that the time limit can feel tight, especially with fewer players or if you're new to escape rooms. The staff, often referred to as 'game masters,' are generally praised for being helpful and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall experience.
It's important to note that while the sets are impressive, photography is prohibited inside the rooms to maintain the surprise and integrity of the puzzles. This means you'll have to rely on your memory and shared experience to relive the adventure afterward.
