"Great walk today out on Terrell's Island with a group from Natural Resources Foundation to learn the history of the Island and the Breakwalls and do some birding although it was a little early for any migrating songbirds although there were plenty of other birds to enjoy. Great place to take the family to enjoy a nice walk in nature and there will be plenty of birds to see and listen for in the coming weeks as the migration gets into full swing. We did see a pair of Bald Eagles many Pelicans and Great Blue Herons and cormorant as well as a pair Great Egrets."

"This place is beautiful and one of the most unique hikes I've taken. It's a shame the loop doesn't connect anymore, but it made for some good exercise and a good excuse to stay outside longer. There's ample parking and a porta-potti at the entrance, along with a map of the area.
The paths here are easy, flat, and really no tripping or slipping hazards to worry about. There are many benches along both paths.
There are two paths to take. I started on the one by the parking lot, which is the shorter path. The birdsongs were wonderful. There were some deer out foraging. Great views, and an easy hike. There's a building on this path that I'm guessing is used for educational purposes. There is also an outhouse.
The second path is closer to the entrance and leads to a nice sitting area, a bridge, and several nests. There are a couple of spots where you could have a picnic.
There are many species of birds here, and this would be a great place for people who like birdwatching. I saw turtles and deer as well, but did not see any squirrels or chipmunks (maybe because of the predatory birds in the area).
This place is well worth checking out! I will definitely return!
I had full cell signal strength the whole time I was here, so I don't think anyone would have to worry about being connected in case of an emergency.
*There are ticks here. Even though the path is wide, and I didn't brush up against anything, I think they dropped out of the trees onto me. I had one from each path (one on my neck, eeewww, lol), and one more under my watch band when I got home. Be sure to check yourselves and your pets.
