What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently rave about the Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium, calling it one of the best in the world. The sheer scale and quality of the exhibits, particularly the Desert Dome and Lied Jungle, are major highlights. While the price can be a consideration, most feel it's well worth the investment for an unforgettable experience.
"This zoo is huge, but so worth going. Probably need 2 days to really go through the entire zoo. I would love to go again. My son loves Elephants and this was his first time seeing them, so precious. Great memories for him and his sister loves Giraffes. The African Safari area is massive. The animals have so much space to roam freely and they look like they are well taken care of! The Jungle area is so pretty inside. The Aquarium was amazing! Great place to hang out in on a hot day in August. The gorillas were a blast to see, their enclosure was amazing.
Food in the safari area was expensive for what you get as is all the drinks/snacks you can buy there. I would definitely recommend this zoo and go early when they open. Definitely try not to go when it’s super hot, you’ll be doing lots of walking to see everything. They have a train to ride, a sky lift and a track like ride through the park also. It costs $1.25 per stop."

"This place is amazing and huge!! We didn't even get through the whole zoo or see the aquarium. There is so much to do and see. Prices are super reasonable. The exhibits are absolutely incredible. We went on a super hot day and luckily there were plenty of exhibits that were cool and lots of misters throughout the zoo. The dome is just breathtaking and the underground cave was fun. Luckily it wasn't busy in the dome when we went but you can very easily spend a lot of time there. The cave was very dark and it took my eyes awhile to adjust but super cool. Very wheelchair accessible but be prepared because it is hilly. I cannot wait to go back and see everything we missed."

"The zoo in Omaha was wonderful! It's ranked one of the best for a reason - clean and well kept displays, great design offering many viewing angles, animals are obviously well treated. We spent the whole day (9:30-5) and saw almost everything. The Lied Jungle and the desert dome were both huge - we easily spent over an hour in each. Going on a weekday after school was back in session meant way fewer visitors, but some concessions were closed - this was not a problem for me :)"
