What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Oyhut Wildlife Area for its peaceful, less crowded beaches and scenic bay views. The unique Steve Brundstad Memorial Trail adds an element of discovery. While generally loved, some note that it's less accessible than other nearby beaches and can be quiet.
"Really beautiful area. There are two ways to get to this beach, you can park on the street and walk down a path and then through a little wooded path to the beach. You can also follow a trail through Oyhut, the Steve Brundstad Memorial Trail (if I’m remembering correctly) to get to the same open grassy road to follow the little wooded trail to the beach. It’s very easy to find. Please pack out what you pack in and leash up during the dates they ask or always if your dog doesn’t recall. It’s safer for everyone. Always check tides too! I think you can park in Oyhut to walk the trail. Doggy poop bags and a trash can at the start of the trail. Very beautiful view of Westport across the water on a clear day."

"It was like a secret path leading to the bay, although not really secret. A fun little hike with some mysteries along the way, like that weird building. Turns out it houses navigational equipment for planes, called an ROV. We were lucky enough to bump into a delightful couple who knew the answers to most of our questions."
