While some note the limited burial space and ongoing construction, the overall sentiment is one of appreciation for its historical significance and serene atmosphere.
"While visiting the Notre Dame Campus I made a stop at Cedar Grove Cemetery. This is a well maintained and historic cemetery that was established in 1853. Today the cemetery consists of about 22 acres. Ground Burial space is very limited. During my visit it appears that a new mausoleum is being constructed, and existing mausoleums are being expanded. Since 1977 the cemetery has been administered by the University of Notre Dame. Cedar Grove is the final resting place of a number of Notable people Including Knute Rockne, Ara Parseghian and Regis Philbin."
