What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Fernwood Botanical Garden for its beautifully natural, wild, and serene atmosphere, offering a peaceful escape. The diverse trails, seasonal beauty, and special events like the winter lights are major draws. While generally well-maintained, some find the terrain varied, necessitating good footwear.
"Beautifully natural, wild and quiet. For the lush nature lovers and those who appreciate subtle simplicity in design. I enjoyed every corner, twist, and turn immensely. There was a feeling of otherworldliness to the way everything seemed left to naturally shift from summer into fall on its own. Moreover, it was especially serene since the rain had passed. It got hot and felt like it was the middle of the summer again- yet most of the trees provided nice, cool shade. Some have already started dropping their leaves and turning colors. I also loved the mixture of gravel/ grass/ flagstone/ dirt pathways, ramps, and stairs. Be sure to wear good shoes for traction. I already look forward to visiting again soon."

"Fernwood was absolutely magical. Such a beautiful place to relax and take in nature. Everyone from the front desk to the cafe was a delight. My daughter was so excited for the trains, scavenger hunt and loved the miniatures. We couldn’t believe we spent 4 hours there and could have spent longer."
Emilie Walker
"Very enchanting. Trails are easy to walk on. Some are paved and others are through the woods. There is a prairie also.
There are places where the water runs off with big and small planked bridges
Lots of beautiful flowers and structures to see. They have a small cafe and gift shop
The staff I encountered were very kind and helpful.
There are restrooms. They have plenty of benches to enjoy nature or rest. There seemed to be plenty of parking, although I'm not sure how busy they get through the year. I went on a cloudy day in May and a little chilly.
The st Joseph River runs by this park.
It is $10 for adults. They have Senior military and children pricing. Parking was free"
