What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Peter and Mary Muth Interpretive Center for its free admission and engaging educational exhibits on local wildlife and the estuary. The surrounding nature preserve offers beautiful, accessible trails for walking and biking, and the seasonal cliff swallows are a unique highlight. While some find the center itself small, the overall experience is highly positive, especially for families and nature enthusiasts.
"Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The center is small, with a few exhibits. Nice way to learn about plants and animals of the back bay. Pretty and easy walking tails surround the center. No shade, nice views, wasn’t too busy even on a Saturday. Plenty of parking."

"Beautiful nature preserve where I go to plein air paint. I was here to participate in an art show held every year. You have the prettiest hiking trails where you can explore, walk you dog 🐕 and enjoy seeing animals and birds."

"This is my second year doing the Backbay Plein Air quick draw. It is always a great time with so many talented artists! The trails are so peaceful and it’s fun to spot the horseback riders as well! The center is set up beautifully with a large tank housing a very energetic ray and a shy shark( might have been his nap time haha). The gallery is filled with amazing artwork ranging from well known masters to emerging artists. I wasn’t sure if I was allowed to post photos of other artists before the show opened, so the one shown below is the painting I entered. For the quick draw you only have a few hours to complete it from start to finish. I arrived a bit late so I completed mine in an hour and 8 minutes. I can’t express my gratitude for the Muth center and their contribution to the artistic community and nature reserve enough!"
