"I don’t know the young guy who was working name but he deserves a raise!! The nicest guy ever, I wish I had cash to tip him for being so kind. That’s the type of places I love giving business to. Thank you for making a great girls trip stop for us."

"I've never felt more beautiful (or vain)!!! This was so magical oh my GOD.
The picture quality is insane!!! I thought I blinked but I'm so glad it came out great. I feel like the universe aligns when you take photos on film and they never let you down.
The film takes a few minutes to develop and comes out a little wet, so be sure to let it dry! Be mindful that there's no countdown and it starts like 4 seconds after you pay. After that, I thinks it's about 3-5 seconds in between each shot. It goes by fast but enough time for you to switch poses. I recommend coming up with poses before you pay, especially if you're a pair or more to coordinate.
The booth fits two people comfortably and you can make three people work if you squeeze and some pokes their butt out. Four could maybeeeee with but it'd be tight.
I also went on a Wednesday afternoon in mid December around 2 and there was small line that went fast, "

The Allure of Analog in a Digital World
The vintage aesthetic is a major draw, with the booths designed to evoke a bygone era. The resulting photos often have a distinct look, characterized by black and white or sepia tones and a slightly grainy texture, reminiscent of old film photography. This unique visual style makes the prints stand out and feel more special than a typical selfie. It's a way to create memories that feel both personal and timeless.
Many visitors find the experience to be a perfect pitstop for dates or outings with friends. The quick, sequential shots encourage playful interaction and genuine reactions, leading to candid and often humorous results. It’s a simple yet engaging activity that provides a fun, shared experience and a tangible memento to remember the occasion by.
Navigating the Lines and Timing Your Visit
To maximize your experience and minimize waiting, strategic timing is key. Many Redditors and TikTok users suggest visiting on weekday mornings or early afternoons. For instance, arriving around 2:30 PM on a Monday or around 9:30 AM on a Monday can result in much shorter lines, sometimes with only a few people ahead of you.
While some reviews mention that the wait is 'worth it,' others suggest that if you're short on time or prefer a more spontaneous experience, there might be alternative photo booths in the city that offer a similar vibe with less waiting. However, for many, the iconic status and unique charm of Old Friend Photobooth make the wait a worthwhile part of the NYC adventure.
Tips for the Perfect Photo Strip
Once you've paid and are seated in the booth, be ready for the rapid-fire shots. There's no countdown timer, so the first picture is taken almost immediately. This means you need to be in your desired pose and expression from the get-go. The intervals between shots are also quite short, encouraging quick changes in expression or pose for a dynamic strip.
Finally, when your photo strip prints, be mindful that it might be slightly damp. It's advisable to avoid touching the front surface immediately after it emerges to prevent smudging. Let it dry for a few minutes before handling it to preserve the quality of your keepsake.
