Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the breathtaking views from Top of the Rock and the magical atmosphere during the holiday season, particularly the iconic Christmas tree. However, many note the extreme crowds, especially during peak times and events, which can detract from the experience.

"I had a great experience in Rockefeller Center. I went here on Christmas, where it was the time for the Christmas tree to be placed. The Christmas tree looked magnificent, with a symbol made of real crystals on the top of the tree, and it’s also a symbol of Swarovski. It’s also not an artificial tree, it’s a real Norway spruce. The LED lights as ornaments on the tree was also extremely detailed which also was very surprising. Other than the Christmas tree, there is Top of the Rock which you could pay to see NYC from very high up. Overall, it’s a great experience and a must-see destination if you’re traveling in NYC."

"The Rockefeller Center during Christmas is nothing short of magical. The iconic Christmas tree, adorned with thousands of sparkling lights and a stunning star topper, creates a breathtaking centerpiece against the New York City skyline. The festive atmosphere is heightened by the ice-skating rink, where visitors glide across the ice surrounded by holiday music and cheerful energy. The nearby decorations, shops, and street performers add to the charm, making it a quintessential holiday experience. Whether you're visiting with family or friends, the Rockefeller Center at Christmas truly captures the joy and spirit of the season."

Sanil Thomas

"Visit this plaza during Christmas to experience magical well decorated well lit Christmas tree.

So crowded and cold, yet so enjoyable and beautiful.

This is one of the the highlights of the festive season in NYC. Every year they install a new tree huge in size.

You can walk to this place from Penn station."

Top of the Rock vs. Empire State Building: The View Debate

However, many travelers and locals alike recommend Top of the Rock for its superior vantage point. From Top of the Rock, you get unobstructed, breathtaking views of Central Park to the north and the Empire State Building itself to the south.TikTokReddit This perspective is often considered more comprehensive and visually appealing than the view from the Empire State Building, which lacks a view of Central Park.
