Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the North Woods as a surprisingly peaceful and natural escape within Central Park, often feeling like a true wilderness. Many appreciate its tranquility, lack of crowds compared to other park sections, and the beauty of its waterfalls and historic structures. Some note it's a great spot for birdwatching and picnics, offering a refreshing break from city life.

"This is one of my go-to reading spots. It’s a nice place to escape from all the chaos outside the perimeter of Central Park. Plenty of dogs and children visit this area and it is maintained well. Make sure to wear sunscreen and bug spray, and bring some water to drink as needed."

Erin Ly

"The North Woods in Central Park feels like a hidden escape from the city - peaceful trails, lush trees, and the sound of running water make it hard to believe you’re still in Manhattan."

Shachar Ashkenazi

"Remarkably peaceful 40-acre forest literally in the center of Manhattan and (relatively) teeming with birds. When Europeans arrived New York was predominantly forest, so this is your chance to experience an “original” slice of Manhattan 🌳

The undulating path is well-maintained and clear throughout. There is every chance you will not encounter a single person as you stroll through the forest.

It goes without saying that from a streetwise perspective the woods should be considered a no-go area at night. Stay safe!

If you found my review or photos helpful please leave a quick thumbs up 👍 Thank you"
