What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Reviews for the New York Studio School are mixed, with some praising its intensive artistic training and transformative Drawing Marathons, while others cite a challenging admissions process and older facilities. The school is highly recommended for those seeking a rigorous, traditional art education focused on developing a personal voice, but potential applicants should be aware of its demanding nature.
"I had a very difficult experience with this institution, and I absolutely do not recommend it.
I tried to apply to one of their academic programs, and the admissions process was aggressive, racist, arrogant, and completely out of proportion. The attitude was extremely judgmental and unprofessional.
After spending many hours preparing my materials and paying money, the interview was humiliating and hostile, and they didn’t even let me see the recommendation letters that were sent on my behalf.
I was deeply hurt by their treatment and behavior.
This is a very small school – only a few dozen students – pretending to be something much bigger, but the facilities are old, smelly, and neglected, and everything feels stuck in time.
The teachers and staff were also cold, unfriendly, and unkind.
I strongly recommend that you stay away from this place and don’t waste your time or money.
Feel free to contact me if you want to hear more about what I went through there"
